Schmidt with the Etowah Town Band and the McMinn Central High School Band in concert on May 8th at McMinn Central High School. The director of the Etowah Town Band is Rev. Ray Calfee, and the director of the award winning McMinn Central High School Band is Mr. Shelby Walker. Shelby is a former member of the popular Alabama Million Dollar Band. Dr. Michael Schmidt (M.Div. Michael Schmidt (M.Div. Liberty University- LBTS ) will play his Calicchio flugelhorn solo on The Love Of God , and he will play his Flip Oakes Kanstul cornet on Jeff Cranfill’s arrangement of In The Garden. Interesting is that trumpeter Joel Swanson , one of Michael Schmidt most important mentors as a horn player , was Jeff Cranfill’s roommate in college.
